THEPROJECT

SHEKI AGRO-BIO COMPLEX is an integrated agro-industrial project that links crop growing and livestock with processing, fermentation, packaging and logistics in a single chain.

The project aims not to stop at selling Sheki-grown produce as raw material, but to process it within the region itself and turn it into higher value-added products.

On the crop side, the initial focus is garlic and onion. In livestock, small ruminants and cattle, meat processing and sales are planned. Over time, expansion into other agricultural and bioprocessing products is envisaged.

Why Sheki

Farming heritage
The region's long agricultural experience and culture of growing produce.
Natural setting
Diverse climate and landscape on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus.
Livestock tradition
Mountain pastures and a deep-rooted livestock tradition in the region.
Regional links
Transport options for access to domestic and regional markets.

Approach

  1. 01

    Single chain

Planning every stage, from planting to export, within one complex makes quality control possible along the entire chain.

  2. 02

    Added value

Fermentation, drying and processing turn everyday produce into longer-lasting, higher-value forms.

  3. 03

    Circular production

Turning processing residues into feed and manure into bio-fertilizer, then returning it to the soil, is a potential development direction.

Questionsandanswers

01What is Sheki Agro-Bio Complex?

It is an integrated agro-industrial project in Sheki that links crop growing and livestock with processing, fermentation, packaging, storage and logistics in a single production chain.

02Where is Sheki Agro-Bio Complex located?

The project is planned for the Sheki region in northwestern Azerbaijan, on the southern slopes of the Greater Caucasus. The exact site will be determined at the design stage.

03What products will the complex produce?

Planned products include fresh garlic and onion, black garlic, fermented and dried garlic, garlic and onion powders, pastes, as well as lamb, goat meat and beef.

04What is black garlic?

Black garlic is made by processing regular garlic over a long period under controlled temperature and humidity. During this process the cloves darken and take on a soft texture and a distinctive flavor. It is a culinary product.

05What livestock operations are planned?

Plans include small ruminant (sheep, goat) and cattle farming, a feed base, veterinary oversight, slaughter, meat processing, a cold chain and the sale of meat products.

06Will the products be exported?

Export is one of the complex's long-term development directions. Specific markets and volumes have not yet been determined.

07What stage is the project at?

The project is in development. Technical parameters, volumes and timelines will be defined at the design stage.

08How can I contact the project about a partnership?

You can reach the project team through the channels published on the Contact page.
